City Hall
A few years ago, our City Hall (located on Talbot St at Mondamin St) was getting pertty ratty and run down. It was the decision of city council to restore it to its former glory.
In order to accomplish this with minimal interference to city operations, a new, temporoary City Hall building was erected on South Edgeware Dr near Burwell Rd. This simple block building cost almost $1,000,000 to build, but it was to be sold after the original was reopened. It eventually was sold, and now houses a continuing education center.
The restoration went well, and the new additions to the old building do not detract from its classic style
Jumbo Monument
This statue is the legacy of former Mayor of St Thomas, Doug Tarry. He had a vision to create a park and permanant memorial to Jumbo, an elephant that was killed by a train here in St Thomas. Jumbo belonged to PT Barnam's circus.
You can visit Jumbo at the corner of Talbot St and William, across from the Town Hall Towers apartment buildings, not too far from the Tim Horton's location on the west end of Talbot St.
This little guy is saving a place for more photos.
I will be adding Pinefore Park and Waterworks park soon.
